The Red Thread of Fate 「運命の赤い糸 Unmei no Akai Ito」 is a Thread Magic spell.
Description[]
With an open grimoire, the user creates a cat from red thread.[1] By simply touching a target, the cat can change the outcome of a subsequent event to something more favorable for the user.[2][3] The cat only protects those about whom the user cares;[4][5] however, someone physically near the user can benefit from the changed fates.[6] The cat also only reacts to direct attacks so the user and their allies can be transported, restrained, or indirectly attacked while the spell is active.[7][8][9]
Because it is made of thread, the cat can unravel to propel itself quickly[10] and to dodge incoming attacks,[11] as well as widen its area of effect by reaching a single strand out to a distant ally.[12][13]
The spell drains a large amount of magic power as long as it is actively changing fates.[14]

- In Chinese legend, the Red Thread of Fate is an invisible red thread that connects those destined to meet each other.
- According to Norse Mythology the three Norns are witches of fate and arrive at the birth of the hero to shape his destiny.
- Vanessa has taken to calling the cat "Rouge" 「ルージュ Rūju」, which is French for "red".[15]
- The cat ranked #25 in the first popularity poll, #54 in the second, #31 in the fourth, and #52 in the fifth.
